    Dos:

  • Register and pay before the day of the event

  • Bring cash for meals. Newegg.com will only be providing an occasional snack.
  • Have a great time!

    To participate in the BYOC area (if you've purchased a BYOC or tournament pass), you must bring your own:

  • game machine
  • monitor
  • mouse
  • mouse pad
  • headphones (speakers are not allowed)
  • keyboard
  • games
  • power cable
  • POWER STRIP (VERY IMPORTANT! Each participant will only be allotted one power outlet)

    Don'ts:

    Items you CANNOT bring to LANfest2K5:
  • NO speakers (headphones only)
  • NO switches or hubs
  • NO chairs
  • NO sleeping bags or Tents
  • NO offensive clothing
  • NO alcohol or illegal substances
  • NO weapons of any kind
VERY IMPORTANT:

Each BYOC participant will ONLY be provided one outlet supporting 1500W for one PC and one monitor ONLY.


Anything other than what is listed above will prevent you from entering the event.


We highly recommend that you bring a wired mouse and keyboard, as we cannot be held responsible for any type of wireless interference that might occur.


YOU CANNOT ENTER THIS EVENT WITHOUT A VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED I.D. OR PASSPORT.


1. No Smoking inside the facility.

2. No Alcohol.

3. No Hacking.

If the staff finds any attempt at hacking into any computers, switches or other equipment, you will be banned from the event and escorted off the premises without refund. This includes running port-scanning software. If you think there is the slightest possibility that what you are doing might be considered hacking, consult the Networking Staff BEFORE trying anything. This is strictly enforced.

4. No moving seats once you've set up at the event.

5. POWER is everything; you will only receive 1 power outlet that provides 1500W of power. This is enough power for your PC & monitor ONLY. You are not allowed to bring equipment that requires external power besides your monitor and PC.

6. No Weapons. Anyone who brings in knives, swords, guns, or maces (with or without a permit), will be refused entry and escorted off the premises. Newegg.com reserves the right to search all visitors entering and exiting the event. Your PC should be your virtual weapon of choice!

7. No Illegal Activity. We do not permit or condone any type of illegal activity. This activity includes but is not limited to: the copying of illegal software, MP3s or distributing pornographic material to minors. Each machine is each player's personal responsibility/liability.

8. Tournament Rules. All game-specific tournament rules will be posted in the Details section of the registration site prior to the event. Do not give the tournament staff grief. Not everyone is going to like our rules, but the rules must be followed.

9. You must be 15 years of age or over on the first day of this event to attend. If you are under 18, a completed parental consent form must be faxed prior to the event and/or presented at registration.

10. ALL TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. If you cancel your registration, you will NOT be given a refund.

11. YOU CANNOT ENTER THIS EVENT WITHOUT A VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED I.D. OR PASSPORT.



What does LAN stand for?

-Local Area Network.

What is a LAN party?

-A LAN party is a gaming event that involves a group of people playing PC games with and against each other on a Local Area Network (LAN). LAN parties are generally preferred over online play because they offer negligible latency and the opportunity to mingle and shoot the breeze (or talk trash) with fellow gamers and opponents.

When is it?

-Doors will open for check-in at 8:00am on Saturday, July 30, and the tournaments will begin at 10:00am. The party will roar on till 6:00pm on Sunday, July 31.

How many people will be participating?

-We’re planning on drawing over 800 gamers and spectators from all over the country. There will be plenty of fun, food and prizes for participants and spectators alike.

Who can play?

-Anyone 15 and up on the first day of the event may participate.
(Registrants age 15 must fax a completed parental consent form prior to the event.)

What is included with my admission into the event?

-36 hours of intense gaming and furious competition
-A goody bag chockfull of great giveaways (For Tournament & BYOC Participants only)
-Raffle tickets for prizes totaling more than $20,000

How much does it cost?

-$30 to compete in a tournament
(includes a seat in the BYOC area),
$20 to play in the BYOC area
(but not the tournament),
and $10 just to come and party Newegg style!

Do I need to pre-register?

All passes REQUIRE pre-registration on our website; you will not be able to purchase entry at the door on the day of the event.

Spectator passes can be purchased on the day of the event, but we recommend that you register in advance to guarantee yourself a pass.

Can minors attend?

-Anyone 15 and up on the first day of the event may participate.

Can I go to LANfest2k5 even if I don't want to play or participate in the tournament?

-Yes, in fact we have special spectator pass that will allow you to hang out all weekend, meet vendors, get a free Newegg.com LAnfest2k5 T-shirt and have a shot at winning great raffle prizes.

-Go to Registration.

Can someone help me configure my computer when I get there?

-Yes, we will have a many staff members there to help you with all your needs and answer all questions.

What games will we be playing?

-The featured tournament games are Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: 1.6 and Call of Duty. The BYOC area will feature a variety of games.

Can I use my speakers?

-No, speakers will not be allowed at this event, so don't forget your headphones!


If I leave the event, can I get back in?

-Yes, you will be able to come and go as you please with proper ID. This includes Drivers License, state issued ID card or Passport.

What about sleeping arrangements?

-You won't be allowed to sleep inside the venue, but the Sheraton in Pasadena (adjacent to our event) is providing all of our participants with a special Newegg LANfest rate of $119 a night.

Are there any coffee shops or places to eat nearby?

-Yes, there are so many restaurants, coffee shops and retailers nearby (and a grocery store) that you might have trouble choosing.

Where do I sit and do I get a choice?

-Seating is first-come, first-serve.

Where do I park, and how much does it cost?

-The parking entrance is on Euclid between Green St & Cordova. Parking for this event is not included and will be $7 without re-entry.

What kind of network setup do you have?

-LANfest2k5 uses a closed Ethernet network.

Is there any Internet access?

-No, we will not be offering Internet access. Our help desk will have Internet access for patches and other game necessities.

How does the power supply work?
