Official Rules

Newegg.com will be hosting a Case-Mod competition every month. Winners will win valuable gift certificates to Newegg.com. In order to compete for prizes, each submission must be received by Newegg.com on or before the 25th of the month. Each submission received after the cut-off date will be eligible only for the following month's contest. Winners will be announced by the 29th of every month. No purchase necessary to enter or win. Employees of Newegg.com and its affiliates, their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.*

If you have a modified case or considerably altered PC, you may submit images to us by following the submission guidelines. If your case is chosen by Newegg as the best case of the month, you will receive notification via e-mail of our decision. All submissions are to be sent by registered users of Newegg.com. You may only submit a 'mod' once per year. If you are a contestant with multiple case mods, you may submit as many as you wish as long as each mod submission represents a different creation.

When you submit your Case Mod, you are agreeing to the following:

  • Reprint or use of your Case Mod and Case Mod images will be at our sole discretion and will occur without compensation to you.
  • We may use your Case Mod and Case Mod images with or without any pseudo (pen) name credit.
  • Our right to use your Case Mod and Case Mod images is perpetual and may be assigned by us.
  • We may use your Case Mod and Case Mod images locally, nationally or globally and such use may be made in any media, information or communication platform (including Internet advertising) currently in use or later developed.
  • You and not someone else composed and posted the Case Mod Case Mod and Case Mod images.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Each case will be given a cumulative number of points based on five different categories. Each category has a possibly point total of 5. The case with the highest total point scores from all five categories wins.

The five categories are:

1. Creativity
2. Arrangement/Neatness
3. Artistic
4. Functionality
5. “WOW” factor

CASE MOD COMPETITION GUIDELINES

1. Creativity — Based on fabrication and application.

  • Differentiates from normal case in form and appearance.
  • Drastically alters original computer case based on barebones product.
  • Includes a variety of advanced and novel additions that are unique.
  • Demonstrates user personality.

2. Arrangement — Based on completion and attention to detail.

  • Case is in finished form.
  • Nothing needs to be added or taken away.
  • Details are sharp and clean.
  • Peripheral elements are in proper arrangement and proportion.

3. Artistic — Aesthetic concerns and thematic issues.

  • Case mod demonstrates a theme and has an overall artistic expression.
  • Case mod utilizes unique parts custom built to incorporate theme.
  • Unique result.
  • Amalgamation of known parts used in a new way to demonstrate theme.
  • Design and execution.

4. Functionality — Based on compatibility of components.

  • High proficiency with component attachment and ability to operate case as working computer.
  • Components are applied correctly and can allow for even greater performance.
  • Especially detailed and applied with care for functionality.
  • Difficulty in attachment integration.
  • Unique appearance and modification result.

5. WOW factor — goes above and beyond.

  • Case mod demonstrates an extreme design execution and excels in all fields in addition to having an incredible presence and originality.
